Blades Cottage offers the perfect base for your nature escape with hundreds of native bird species in the area surrounding the cottage, available to you from the cottage door as well as proximity to nearby birdwatching hotspots like Malham Cove, Smardale and Semerwater ideal for a birding break in the heart of  the Yorkshire Dales.

From Blades Cottage you can spend your days admiring the curlews and lapwing soaring overhead, watch woodpeckers, finches and wagtails and tits at the bird feeds, or walk the river to see oyster catchers, herons and red shanks, barn and short eared owls. ducks and geese and many more.

The cuckoo comes every spring.

Roe deer and red squirrels do also visit.
